Attracting office workers of the future


Knight Frank has devoted a large amount of research into global work trends along with office and residential space needs.

It is thought that Berlin will be the next go-to creative hub and the city authorities have been trying to attract UK digital businesses to settle there.

Knight Frank’s Global Cities Report 2017 looks at how real estate is performing in the 32 world cities surveyed in the research.

· an estimated 4 billion people live in cities around the world, up 23% from ten years ago and over 60% of the world’s citizens now own a smart phone· smart phones, tablets, WiFi and 4G have created a spread of information and a flowering of entrepreneurship

· growing cities are centre stage in the innovation economy and supply is often not keeping pace with demand for both commercial and residential real estate.

· business has rushed to recruit creative, highly educated staff and expand their offices to attract the iPhone generation, which is not characterised by age, but by an adaptive, free thinking mind-set.

· firms want to lock in those individuals with offices that match workers’ lifestyle and commuting needs.
