HLF, Mendoza Review and future funding

Heritage and cultural projects will have to be exceptional to receive funding in the future according to Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Ros Kerslake.

Ros spoke at our recent 'Art Investment and Cities' Forum stating that while it is important not to 'constrain thinking' when evaluating applications, the pressure on funding is growing.

She highlighted that to receive funding, projects have to show a real impact for the particular community and how culture fits into place.

Ros also mentioned the Mendoza Review - which outlines recommendations for how government can support the museums sector - putting emphasis on the importance of investing in current UK heritage projects, rather than in new ones.

Ros stressed the £17.5 billion that comes back to the UK GDP through heritage and the 400,000 jobs that are supported through heritage management, tourism and promotion.

Please watch Ros speaking in our video above giving advice to those who are seeking funding.
