Legal & General launches affordable housing arm

The new scheme aims to support the UK's demographic and affordable living needs and is a move to become the country's leading private affordable housing provider.

It forms a subsidiary of Legal & General Capital, which invests capital into sectors where there has been a shortage of investment and innovation, focusing on growth opportunities and scale ups.

Rachel Dickie, Head of Urban Regeneration at Legal & General Capital, will be speaking at our City Hall, London forum, 'The Making of the Modern City' on 8th May.

The UK continues to have a chronic shortfall of over 100,000 homes per year. The position is particularly stark in the affordable housing sector with over 1.3 million households on UK waiting lists.

Legal & General Affordable homes will aim to be fully operational and delivering 3,000 homes per year within the next four years.

Rachel will be joined on her panel by Lester Hampson, Director of Real Estate Development at Transport for London, Jennifer Ross Director of Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design and team leader of VeloCity, Rory Brooke, Head of Economics (Planning) at Savills, and the Mayor of Middlesbrough, David Budd.
