Station district and high street regeneration

We are extremely pleased that the highly experienced planner, Sharon Strutt, working in the London Borough of Redbridge, will be speaking at our Future Cities Forum on 18th September to be held on the Greenwich Peninsula at Ravensbourne University London.

A Chartered Town Planner, Sharon has a wealth of expertise developing and delivering large and complex regeneration projects, with over 10 years’ experience as a Head of Service in north and east London. Sharon led production of the borough’s 15 year Regeneration Strategy for Redbridge, and is currently leading the regeneration of Ilford town centre, ensuring placemaking is at the heart of delivery.

Public realm improvements have been at the centre of the Ilford town centre regeneration scheme. Alongside the arrival of the Elizabeth Line, major interventions will help to transform the high street. Planning work in the scheme has included high quality granite paving, new trees and greenery, pocket parks and green walls, public arts, informal play sites and better spaces for public events, enhanced lighting and seating as well as more street cycle stands.

Working with Crossrail and TfL has helped to upgrade the area around Ilford station, making the arrival to the town more welcoming and breathing new life into the neighbourhood.

Sharon has successfully delivered a number of Mayoral initiatives, including those aimed at stimulating new homes, investment and diversification of high streets, while promoting enterprise with a focus on expanding the creative sector.
