British Architect Designs First African-American Museum

Congratulations to British architect, David Adjaye, who was chosen to design the first U.S. national museum about African-American history. President Obama has opened the £450m museum today(24/9/2016) in Washington DC saying that it represented 'a common journey towards freedom.'

Inside the museum, covering nearly 40,000 square meters, visitors can view 36,000 items including trade goods used to buy slaves in Africa and a red Cadillac covertible.

David was born in Tanzania but trained in London and his buildings have been commissioned in cities from Oslo to New York.
