RCP North opens in Liverpool
The first phase of the Royal College of Physicians North has opened in the on-going development of a major centre of clinical excellence in Liverpool.
It is situated on Liverpool University’s campus in the William Henry Duncan building where two floors have been converted into suitable spaces for clinical examinations, workshops and office space.
Phase 1 is the start of long-term plans to provide services outside the capital responding to the desire for more education and research in northern England, Scotland, north Wales and Northern Ireland with the additional aim of upholding RCP’s strategic vision to benefit its members, fellows and partners in its commitment to improve patient care in the UK and internationally.
Due to open in 2020, Phase 2 of RCP North will see a new iconic £35 million development of a 70,000 square foot northern home to occupy a prime position in the heart of Paddington Village, part of KQ Liverpool.
Professor Jane Dacre, President of the RCP said ‘We turn a landmark 500 years old in 2018 and RCP North and the city of Liverpool offers an impressive, vibrant home to enhance our passion to improve patient care quality beyond the UK and far into the future’
Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson also commented ‘The arrival of the RCP in Liverpool marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for KQ Liverpool and the city’s future economic development’
