Loughborough University on offsite house-building at Future Cities Forum

We are delighted that Dr Chris Goodier of Loughborough University, will be speaking at our Planning forum in March in London.

Chris is the Director of Loughborough’s Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Construction Engineering, and is an expert in offsite, modern methods of construction and modular construction. He is an experienced Civil Engineer, Chartered Builder and Researcher with 25 years’ experience of all aspects of construction, including contracting, consultancy and research. His authored books include Design in Modular Construction (2014) and the RICS 'Future of UK House-building' (2010), and he is an international expert witness for offsite and modular construction.

He recently was invited to give evidence in person to the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee inquiry into MMC. In the last 2 years he has led three offsite-focused industry consultancy research projects: Arup’s Global Research Challenge on Re-deployable Modules for Adaptable Commercial Configurations, Highway England’s Structures Non-Steel for (Offsite) Smart Motorway Gantries, and British Standards 'Standards for Offsite Construction'.

He worked previously for 7 years for Laing O’Rourke Civil Engineering and BRE and was the Lead Expert for construction on the UK Government’s Foresight Sustainable Energy Management and the Built Environment futures project.

He has authored more than 200 publications in the field of offsite construction, construction technology, concrete materials, construction management, and the future of the construction sector.
