Next phase of Station Hill, Reading, receives planning

The third phase of Station Hill has been approved unanimously by Reading Borough Council’s planning committee, according to LDA Design.

Lincoln MGT’s Station Hill is transforming the centre of Reading and and LDA Design says it is creating vibrant new connections. This next phase will provide a further 600 high-quality and affordable homes designed by Gensler, with public realm designed by LDA Design.

The firm states:

'At its heart will be Station Hill Gardens, a verdant, intimate and immersive space that complements the civic qualities of the previously designed Station Hill Square and Friars Walk, whilst providing a new dynamic. 

'An open lawn area gives Station Hill the space to support a rich and evolving cultural programme that will further activate the new neighbourhood, and a new children’s play area will make things fun and interactive. Previously overlooked and undervalued streets will include rain gardens, trees and active frontages to contribute positively to the overall experience of Station Hill.'

LDA Design Director, Cannon Ivers, is delighted by the planning news.

“Following the success of Phases 1 and 2, Station Hill Phase 3A will continue the vision to transform the arrival into Reading and provide a fantastic place to live, work and spend time. The public realm is essential to connecting the town to the rail  station and to ensuring this community thrives. Seeing it come to life with live music and other cultural moments has been hugely rewarding.”

Once complete, Station Hill will include two acres of new public realm, nearly 1,200 homes, commercial office, retail and leisure space.
