Professor Judith Squires, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost of the University of Bristol joins our 'Innovation Cities' forum

Future Cities Forum is delighted that Professor Judith Squires, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost at the University of Bristol and Senior Responsible Owner for the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus programme, will be contributing to our 'Innovation Cities' forum this October.

She has overseen the development of the University's new Sloane Robinson Building - where Future Cities Forum will be holding its event - and the wider expansion of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

A leading academic and civic leader, Professor Squires has served as Chair of the Bristol Cultural Development Partnership and was a founding member of the Bristol Learning City Partnership Board. She is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees for Spike Island and a member of the Bristol Zoological Society Board. Professor Squires is also a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

The Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) is a collection of world-class facilities orientated around frontier industries like AI, deep tech and creative tech, in addition to business, innovation and science and engineering. The new campus sits at the heart of Bristol Temple Quarter - one of the UK's largest urban regeneration projects creating a thriving new city district.

The University of Bristol says:

This funding has established a world-class deep tech innovation hub at TQEC, strengthening the region’s capabilities in critical technologies.'

Joining Professor Squires will be Helen Mercer, Chief Executive of Bristol Temple Quarter, who is returning to contribute to our 'Innovation Cities' forum at The University of Bristol's Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus. She brings extensive regeneration experience to Bristol, including as Delivery Director for Brent Cross Town, a major housing and infrastructure scheme in London that included the delivery of a new railway station. 

Also contributing to the discussions will be Seb Loyn, Director of Planning and Development at YTL Developments. Having trained in both Architecture and Planning, Seb has spent a career at some of the property industry’s most innovative developers, starting out at Urban Splash, Skanska and Studio Hive before joining YTL Developments in 2017. He now leads the team responsible for one of the most exciting regeneration projects in the country at Brabazon in Bristol. He is also a Trustee of Design West, which champions quality design and placemaking across the South West.
