Harrods restored
MAKE Architects will be discussing the renovation project that they have been working on for Harrods at our luxury event, part of our third Future Cities Forum, to be held this November in London.
The forum will be featuring luxury brands along side research from Knight Frank's Wealth Report 2016 and insight from developer, Native Land.
Harrods has been restored under a programme to bring it back to its Edwardian splendour but also give it a contemporary signature twist.
Everything post 1935 has been stripped away on Superbrands - the women's luxury fashion floor, creating a gracious promenade and a place to window shop, each brand having its own space.
Materials were chosen to reflect Harrods' rich heritage: marble, black granite, bronze and
brass. The 'halo' features on the ceilings have been given a new prominence and the original columns restored.
MAKE has also redesigned the Basil Street escalator hall, installed a new roof light and restored the original Edwardian listed staircase.
