PwC and global construction

PwC has sponsored the Global Construction Report 2030 which predicts that by this date construction worldwide will be up 85%, with Delhi in India becoming the world's second largest city.

China's housing sector will slump and construction will move to the education, healthcare and retail sectors.

While there will be weaknesses in construction in Brazil and Russia, the UK will overtake Germany to become the 6th largest construction market.

However, in November we interviewed the Chief Executive of the Construction and Industry Council, Graham Watts, who warned of a future crisis among skilled workers in the UK construction industry following the Brexit vote.

Additonally last week, The Standard newspaper gave an alert to the sudden and sharp fall in the luxury home market in London.

We will be featuring the work of the PwC UK Engineering and Construction team in our January blogs. The team delivers quality assurance, tax and advisory services but also has specialists in sustainability, public/private partnerships and the environment.

Our 2017 March Future Cities Forum will look at all these areas and is being held at The Institute of Engineering and Technology, Savoy Place, London. Please ask us for details.
