Environmental remediation in China
Aecom, a global infrastructure firm, spoke at our June forum this year on world museum sustainability with V&A Director Tristram Hunt, but is now highlighting its work in China to remediate some of the country's most polluted areas.
It has signed an agreement with a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Group Ltd - HPDI - the fourteenth largest state owned enterprise in the People's Rupublic of China, to establish a venture in Beijing servicing the need for stronger environmental protections.
Projects will include solutions for soil and ground-water pollution, surface water and sediment remediation and treatment of solid and water waste.
As economic and social development has risen across China, there is concern over environmental impacts with a dramatic shift forward in official and public support for remediation.
