Bexley Development Company at Future Cities Forum
We are very pleased that the Managing Director of Bexley Co (the London Borough of Bexley's private development company), Huw Lewis, will join our final panel discussion at "Intelligent Cities" at White City Place on 3rd July.
Huw says that Bexley Co expects to invest £630 million to help sustainable growth and development in the borough, achieving a 7% return for the council, in addition to its wider social and economic contributions.
Huw has over 27 years’ senior director experience in the private and public sector working on asset, facilities and estates management, design, construction and procurement. He has lived and worked in the UK and internationally, across sectors including retail, office, leisure, transportation, waste, health, education, housing, infrastructure and regeneration.
Huw’s most recent role includes Managing Director of the Urban Growth Company (UGC) responsible for spearheading the preparation and delivery of infrastructure and development at the UK Central Hub site in Solihull bringing together the ambitions of Birmingham Airport, the NEC, Jaguar Land Rover, Birmingham Business Park and Arden Cross – the site for HS2’s Birmingham Interchange Station – with the potential to generate up to £4.1bn GVA per annum. The infrastructure investment value in The Hub over the next ten years is expected to be in excess of £1.6bn.
Huw’s other roles include Development Director for UCI and Village Roadshow Cinemas covering their circuits Internationally, Vice President Stations Metronet, Director at Balfour Beatty overseeing their health and education portfolios and their works at Terminal 5 and Terminal 2, Investment and Board Director at Shanks plc , and Property Director at the City of London Corporation, overseeing all capital projects on behalf of the City of London with a property portfolio of over £2 billion generating a rental income of over £100m per annum.
