Sadie Morgan to speak at Royal Arsenal Woolwich
We are delighted to welcome to Future Cities Forum this visionary architect who founded her own Stirling Prize winning practice - dRMM Architects - and who also serves on the National Infrastructure Commission.
Her studio is recognised for creating innovation, high quality and socially useful architecture. dRMM's recent high profile projects include Hastings Pier, Trafalgar Place at Elephant & Castle, Maggie's Oldham and Faraday House at Battersea Power Station.
Sadie will be contributing to our 22nd November discussions for Future Cities Forum 11 at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair - which is in its third year and is being held in the historic factory buildings of the Royal Arsenal.
The forum will look at the development and infrastructure around creative place-making districts along with the encouragement of the next generation of designers, planners and architects through education innovation and business support. Brexit impacts and the export of UK creativity will also be discussed.
Sadie chairs the Independent Design Panel for High Speed Two, is a commissioner for the National Infrastructure Commission and commissioner of the Thames Estuary 2050 Growth Commission. Sadie was appointed as a Mayor's design advocate for the Greater London Authority and non-executive director of the Major Project Association in 2017.
Sadie lectures internationally on the work of dRMM and the importance of infrastructure which connects back to people and place. In 2013, she became the youngest president of the Architectural Association and in 2016 was appointed professor at the University of Westminster and awarded an honorary doctorate from London South Bank University. In 2017 she was named New Londoner of the Year at the New London Awards for her work championing the importance of design at the highest political level.
