London Borough of Redbridge joins Future Cities Forum
We are delighted that Sharon Strutt, Head of Regeneration, at the London Borough of Redbridge will be joining our housing discussion panel on 22nd November at Royal Arsenal in Woolwich.
Sharon has a wealth of experience developing and delivering large and complex regeneration projects, with over 10 years' experience as a Head of Service in north and east London.
She recently led production of the borough's 15 year Regeneration Strategy for Redbridge and is currently involved in leading the redevelopment of Ilford town centre.
Sharon has successfully delivered a number of Mayoral initiatives, including those aimed at stimulating investment and diversification of high streets and promoting enterprise with a focus on expanding the creative sector.
She will be speaking about how two historic department stores in Ilford - Harrison & Gibson and Bodgers - are being re-purposed into residential in the town centre in a regeneration programme that involves improvements to the night time economy and the inclusion of food markets.
She says that the town needs to attract more families, improve its cultural offer, re-thinking the cinema and theatre, while creating more housing around the station.
Sharon explained that collaboration between all landowners is vital to making the regeneration a success in order to take full advantage of the coming Crossrail station.
