Essex County Council on housing delivery

We are delighted that Steve Evison of Essex County Council will join discussions at our Infrastructure 2020 forum in February on planning joined-up infrastructure and housing for new communities.

Steve is the Director for Strategic Commissioning & Policy in Place and Public Health at Essex County Council leading on Regeneration, Housing Growth and Garden Communities. Steve joined ECC in 2018.

Prior to that Steve was a senior civil servant at the Department for Communities and Local Government working as Deputy Director leading on all Government Local Plan policy and performance including statutory interventions, Housing White Paper policy and the national Neighbourhood Planning programme.

Steve was also a Non-Executive Director to the board of PRS Operations Ltd - securing institutional investment in homes built specifically for private rent.

Steve began work at the Department for Communities & Local Government in 2006 and worked in a range of policy areas and these included Head of Policy for the private rented sector, Bill Manager for the Growth & Infrastructure Bill and local government policy leading on creation of unitary authorities, directly elected Mayors, local government governance and electoral policy. Steve began his career at the Electoral Commission.
