CBRE to discuss the future for occupiers of science parks

We are very pleased that Chris Williams, CBRE's senior director for occupier transactions will be speaking at our Cambridge 'Science Cities and the Arc' forum this week.

He will be joining a discussion panel about the future of housing linked to jobs and joined up infrastructure in our overheating science city regions with the Leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council, Cllr Bridget Smith, and the former director of estates at Cambridge University, Dr Jason Matthews (who is now advising on the Oxford North project), and award-winning architect Jo Cowen, Chief Executive of Jo Cowen Architects, who is working on a Build-to-Rent scheme in Eddington.

Chris says that the challenge for occupiers looking to move or re-locate for suitable office and lab space for their workforce is to find appropriate and affordable housing. The current real estate model could be improved, he says. The accommodation in London and the south east of the UK is proving too expensive and creates too much commuting.
