Forsters LLP on planning film studios

Future Cities Forum is delighted that Owen Spencer of Forsters LLP is joining 'Creative Cities' at the BFI this week. Owen is a solicitor and Senior Associate in the commercial real estate team at Forsters and has a broad range of experience acting for occupiers of commercial property. He has a particular specialism advising on the real estate aspects of film and televisions studios.

Owen acts for Netflix and Columbia Pictures in relation to their occupational requirements. He also acts for investor landlords, including in relation to acquiring sites to construct new studios. Owen is a ranked lawyer in the Corporate Occupiers section of the 2023 edition of The Legal 50.

Forsters LLP Studios Group has industry leading experience acting on all legal aspects of real estate transactions relating to film and television studios. The firm has established itself as one of a very few go-to firms for studios clients seeking to commence or expand their activity in the UK. It offers a cohesive, well-balanced and co-ordinated team that is partner-led and genuinely enthused about the many aspects of studio ownership and operation.

It has excellent working relationships with the leading property agents and its experience shows that working collaboratively with existing teams on issues such as location, size of space and specification will help to ensure that the project runs on time, within budget and with minimal disruption to the client’s day-to-day business.

In addition to core real estate, Forsters offers a complete service across all property disciplines including construction, planning, real Estate Tax, property litigation, finance and corporate. We have strong experience in acting for both occupiers and production companies, as well as investors, developers and operators.

Forsters' clients include Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Columbia (Sony Pictures), and the owner of Twickenham Studios, in a project asset-managed by General Projects.
