Croydon's famous concert venue, the Fairfield Halls, is due to be redeveloped with £30 million of investment which will also involve a re-design of College Green.
Plans include an upgrade of the 1,800 seat concert hall and the demolition of the nearby multi-storey car part to create over 200 new homes. A college will also be built along with shops and offices.
Fairfield Halls was opened in November 1962, and its accoustic quality was internationally recognised. The venue comprises the concert hall, the Ashcroft Theatre and The Arnhem Gallery.
