Future Cities Forum is looking forward to welcoming its contributors and guests to our 'Global Tech Cities' discussion event hosted by the Cambridge Science Park at the John Bradfield Centre.
It is an exciting time to be holding this conference with the new expansion plans announced by Trinity College, Cambridge, which is intending to invest over the next five decades into new infrastructure, net-zero workspaces - creating the 'Park of Science' .
The current Cambridge Science Park is a 150-acre site which houses more than 100 science and technology companies, that attract ambitious like minded entrepreneurs both from Cambridge and around the world, co-locating them in scalable, state-of-the-art facilities and connecting them to investors to help them grow.
Future Cities Forum is also grateful to the Mayor of Heidelberg, Prof. Dr. Eckhart Würzner for joining us next week, to share his plans for the city, in the 60th year of twinning between Heidelberg and Cambridge.
Heidelberg University is Germany's oldest and ranks among the world's top 50. It is second in Germany for its research quality. The city is number one in Germany for start-ups per capita and home to many leading scientific institutions, including EMBL, which also has a base on the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton Cambridgeshire.
Future Cities Forum will be asking questions about best practice in supporting innovation companies in both cities against global competition and the importance of public/private investment in infrastructure.
